Ross Martin Second In New York, Jake Angove Collects Pair of Seconds In Pro Lite

Duluth, MN (February 6, 2017) – Ross Martin showed once again on Saturday night in Salamanca, New York that with a good start he is still one of the elite riders in AMSOIL Championship Snocross. Martin has a string of podium finishes dating back to round five in early January and added to the collection with another second place finish.

While he is still searching for consistency in qualifying heat races, Martin has continued to come up big in the main events and now sits just a few points out of the fifth spot in the championship. On Saturday, Martin shot out to the front of the pack, along with race winner Tucker Hibbert, and was never challenged for his position throughout the final.

“Each and every time I go out there the goal is to try and win,” said Martin. We’ve had some ups and downs this season, this weekend in particular, but when the main comes that’s when you want to put it all together and that’s kinda what I focused on. I’d like to work on my heat races a little bit but I have a great team and sponsors with Jack Links, AMSOIL, Axalta and Polaris.”

In the Pro Lite class, Jake Angove turned in two of his best performances of the season, racing into podium positions each night and then making critical passes on Championship leader Aki Pihlaja to claim the runner-up spot on both occasions. Saturday night in particular was a huge show of determination, as Angove made the pass for second in the final laps. “I really didn’t have a game plan tonight,” said Angove. I just put my head down let it hang out.”

Nick Lorenz nearly had a podium of his own on Friday when he was trailing Angove in the third spot. However, with just one lap to go, Lorenz was run off the track while trying to pass a rider who was a lap down. Nick was able to rebound on Saturday with a pair of third place heat race finishes and a fourth place in the main event, holding onto the second spot in the championship.
