Ste-Sophie, March 23, 2017
The Mailloux Racing team was back on the ISOC Circuit in the United-States this weekend, March 17-19, for the conclusion of the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross with the Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Lots of snow was made on the ski hills for an impressive track with up and down-hill sections, technical whoop sections and big air jumps.
On Friday in Lake Geneva, it’s the traditional Showdown, races reserved exclusively for riders racing in affiliated circuits with ISOC. For Mailloux Racing, our participation in the CSRA Canadian Snowcross Championship allows us to race in the Showdown.
Our Ski-Doo rider #111, Nathan Mailloux, has a great start with the 1st place of his qualifying heat in transition 8-12. He ends up on the 3rd step of the podium in the final. In the Transition 11-12 class, Nathan placed 3rd in qualification, and also in his final. He completes his races of the Showdown with a 5th place finish in the Junior 10-13 class, following a 4th place in qualification.
Our Ski-Doo rider #880, Martin Mailloux, was also in action on Friday for the Showdown races in the Pro AM+30 class. Martin does very well in qualification with a 2nd place, but he has a fall while battling for the third spot in the final, and he has to settle for the 4th place. A round of the ISOC National was also on the schedule later that day in Pro AM+30. Martin finishes 6th and 9th of his qualifying heats. In the final, he got to the checkered flag in 14th place.
On Saturday, Nathan is racing in the Transition 8-12 class. He has great races in qualifications with a 2nd and a 1st place. He however has some difficulty in the final and placed 6th at the finish line. Martin is also racing again for his second round of the weekend in the Pro AM+30 class. He ends up 7th in both of his qualifying heats, and finishing out his 2016-2017 ISOC season with the 12th place spot.
Nathan is the only rider in action on Sunday with the Junior 10-13 class. At the start of his first qualification, he is involved in a incident with two others sleds, and he is ejected from his Ski-Doo. He was unable to complete the race and ended up in 10th place. At his second qualification, Nathan finishes in 6th place. These two results do not allow Nathan to take part in the LCQ, and so the final, ending his weekend in Lake Geneva.
Despite this disappointing end, Mailloux Racing is satisfied with his first experience in Lake Geneva with two podiums for Nathan.
