Finley, ND (February 4, 2019) – It’s been a long and challenging season but perseverance by the riders and team is starting to pay off in a big way. Evan Christian had his best weekend as a rookie in the Sport class, earning his first top five finish on Friday night in New York and then backed it up with a top 10 on Saturday in eighth.
Throughout the weekend Evan never qualified lower than second place and went undefeated on Saturday to earn the top qualifying spot and first gate pick in the main event. “The speed is there, we just need to keep getting the starts and make good consistent laps.” said Christian. On Friday we had a good start and I ended up making a little mistake and getting shuffled back but we’ll take it and just have to keep putting it all together now.”
Jay Lura came into the weekend looking to build on his best finish of the season at the previous round. Jay had a pair of second place finishes in qualifying and raced from the 11th spot to finish eighth on Saturday night.
The national tour has one open weekend before finishing out the season with back-to-back rounds in Dubuque, Iowa and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on March 8-9 and 15-16
