Duluth, MN (January 7, 2020) – Trent Wittwer and Nick Lorenz both turned in steady performances at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota as the national snocross tour kicked into high gear following the holiday break.

Wittwer continues to grow in his rookie season as a Pro, matching a season-best eighth place finish on Friday night and completing the weekend with three top 10 results.

“I’m just taking this weekend as a building weekend,  we had two big changes this year going to the pro class and getting on a different brand of sled. At the end of last year I would have expected to be a top five guy but it’s going to take a little time. I just have to stay positive. Don’t get me wrong it’s hard, but it’s a character builder and everyone is working hard so we just have to keep going forward.”

Lorenz came close to getting back on the podium on several occassions, including a fourth on Sunday to cap the weekend. On Friday, he had quickly made his way to third place before tangling with a lapped rider with just a couple circuits to go. Despite the crash, Lorenz was able to take advantage his sizable lead on the field to recover for fifth overall.

“Friday I rode really good in the final.  Saturday I struggled with the track, it was a little more technical and I ended up crashing and getting 15th which is not where I should be. Sunday was really good, I woke up sore, these three day weekends are really tough on us, but we went out in practice and did some suspension stuff with Ben and Tony and Mikey and I felt better immediately, the positive vibes were back. My goal was a top seven start and that’s where we were. I was able to work my way up to fourth and was charging but there just wasn’t enough laps. I feel like I have more in me than the rest of the guys at the end but I have to race through the pack. We’ve got Deadwood coming up and I always do pretty well there and the goal is to be on the box both days.”

Sport class rider Carson Alread had another stellar weekend racing to podium finishes in both of his finals. Alread remains in second place in the class championship and is developing a heated rivalry with the points leader that will make the class a fun one to watch right to the season finale.
