Albertville, Minn.~ The series finale of the 2021 AMSOIL Championship Snocross, Powered by RAM Trucks tour is moving West, from Michigan to South Dakota. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the national Snocross tour will be making its second stop in Sioux Falls during the 2021 season.
Just days after the series held its first national event in Sioux Falls, the series made the decision to return back to the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds for a three-day event, March 26-28. The AMSOIL Snocross National will feature two full days of points racing highlighted on Friday and Saturday. A third day has been added to the season finale which will be highlighted by the Amateur Showdown races and the AMSOIL Dominator. The world-renowned Dominator event will feature a new format this season, putting the fastest Pro-Lite racers on the track with the world’s greatest Pro class riders, head-to-head in a normal race format for $10,000.
The series has had to make a number of changes to its end of the season schedule due to challenges with local and state regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Two days of racing in Sioux Falls on February 19-20 were an eye-opener for ISOC officials. With a passionate crowd showing up to support the event and see the best snocross racers in the world, officials knew Sioux Falls would be the best substitute for the 2021 season finale.
“Sioux Falls was a new event for the series in 2021, moving there after we were unable to hold an event on the East Coast,” said ISOC president Carl Schubitzke. “We had an exceptional weekend of racing at the fairgrounds, and when we found out Grand Rapids was a no-go, the decision to return to Sioux Falls became a no-brainer.”
The W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds features ample spectator and competitor parking, while also boasting a high action racetrack. From the vendors, to the Snocross athletes, the AMSOIL Snocross National is set to be a fantastic event and a great way to end the 2021 Snocross season. More information on the event can be found at www.snocross.lab.b2tech.us. Tickets for the event will go on sale starting this week!
“Talk about exciting! My staff and I are barely into a recap meeting about the Snocross we just held, and Carl calls me asking if we have March dates open. Last weekend was a huge success for the AMSOIL Snocross Nationals, the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds and Sioux Falls. Thank you to Sioux Falls and surrounding areas for the massive support.” Scott Wick, W.H Lyon Fairgrounds CEO.
The 2021 AMSOIL Championship Snocross series is comprised of 16 national rounds and will be at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minn. for the Pirtek National Snocross March 5-6. All events will air on the series live stream channels, as well as the CBS Sports Network airing in the weeks following the race.
