Winnipeg, MB (February 27, 2017) – Aki Pihlaja battled his way to two Pro Lite podium finishes in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, maintaining a comfortable lead in the class championship.
Warm temps leading up to the event and heavy rain on Friday created a unique and challenging racing environment for teams and riders. However, Pihlaja was on his usual pace, finishing first and second in his qualifying races and third in the main event.
On Saturday, the weather turned much colder and was more typical of a February race weekend. Pihlaja picked up right where he left off the night before, scoring top three finishes in his heat races and stepping onto the podium in the third position after ferociously contesting for the win in the main event.
Adam Renheim turned in two solid performances in the Pro Open class, finishing sixth on Friday and seventh on Saturday.
The series moves to a new ski hill venue this weekend in Dubuque, Iowa where pre-race ticket sales have been very strong and an ample amount of snow is lining the hills for this much anticipated stop.
